“To awaken potentialities, we must embrace adaptability. To create strength, we must face adversity.”

Adapting to Adversity
November 2020

I remember watching solitary stars drift through moonlit skies while shadows slow danced with silhouettes of slender trees. I remember a stillness so profound that it permeated my soul. I remember a silence so pure that I could hear the soft sound of my pulsing heart. The wilderness allures me, she ignites my imagination and untames my curiosity.

I remember the man I was.
I remember abundant energy, easy accomplishments and endless opportunities. I remember the days before disease dissolved dreams and disintegrated capabilities. I remember surfing big waves and stormy seas. I’ll never forget the way my heart boomed to the oceans tune. I miss the days when happiness bloomed.

I am not the man I was.
But I’ve wished that I could be he, what a waste of precious energy. Expecting positive mental change while spellbound by previous possibilities is insanity. We can’t find fulfilment if we’re fixated on past realities and fragments of our former selves. We can’t build a better future if we’re living a life of irrelevant philosophies. To awaken potentialities, we must embrace adaptability. To create strength, we must face adversity.

My vessel is almost empty. My body is worn, weary, bruised and broken, but my mind has awoken. With faith, a brighter future opens.

With warmth,
Davey
